Today was the start of week two. I had no agenda, no work, no schedule to adhere to. I miraculously slept another 11 hours last night; peaceful, full of delicious dreams, and unburdened by any expectations. Becca has a set of true linen sheets and linen comforter that couldn't be more perfect to nestle in and for the ambiance of her apartment. I have always wanted a set and now by virtue of opportunity I get to laze around in them. There's only one thing missing from that scene ;-) And on that note, how shall I say, the 6'2" tall sightseeing is quite enjoyable. So many turn-your-head moments. I seem to walk through the business district a fair amount and a well dressed Spanish man with stunning spanish leather shoes is something to take in, I'm just sayin'

Today was a day of life maintenance at a slower pace. I needed to run some errands on the other side of town, so walked down and back, only to find what I needed on some of the remote one-way side streets in tiny little shops near my home. I travelled Passeig de Gràcia again (the street with the Gucci shops) and took more time to people watch and look in some of the windows, but not longingly. What I found great beauty in today was all the different types of balconies and iron work. I've included some random pictures below. I don't think the pictures captured exactly what I saw; it had more to do with the light than I think I was able to photograph.

Today was the warmest day so far and one filled completely with sunshine and warm breezes. On my way home I wandered into a sweet little plaza, Plaza del Sol. It was about 1:30 so I stopped for a nibble and just noticed the little things around me. The sun felt so incredibly good. There was a puppy taking a siesta, the square became more filled with people toward 2PM with lots of baby strollers and little kids joining the mix. And then, out of the blue, a guitarist set up a chair and his amp and began to play. This was one of so many small plazas where local people of all ages convene during the day. I ordered something I didn't understand on the menu and it was this delicious minced spiced meat in a cornbread pocket. It was fantastic.

I ended the day with a walk up toward Guell Park this time wandering in and out of all the neighborhoods. I happened upon a little church plaza that was sweet and quiet and had just a few locals sitting and talking. There was a wonderful view of the city and you could see the ocean in the distance.

The day was filled in around the edges with doing laundry, cleaning and picking up my daily food at the markets around the corner. I browsed over train schedules for day trips up the Coast of Brava and inland. Tomorrow I hope to connect with Nina, the cafe owner from across the street who is from Vermont. The world doesn't get much smaller than that!

The overall day was simply wonderful and peaceful and more than anything, beautiful. So many things to take in and with no rush to do so.

Final Thoughts

Well, it’s the last day. It feels I have lived in suspended time and space. It wasn’t too short, or too long. It was simply just right. I...
